Integration
Being that I was given freedom with my curriculum with Miriame, I was able to choose what I thought she should be familiar with, and what I thought she needed to know in order to feel comfortable and to succeed. From working with her on a daily basis, I became aware that she did not have much of a base in most subjects, as far as Ohio and U.S. standards are concerned. This was because of her limited education in her home country. In order to integrate her as a student, as well as into the American culture, I had my work cut out for me. All of this new information was overwhelming for Miriame at times, and for me as well. Some days were harder than others, but we still learned and had fun.
